2016: A Year of Perseverance

per·se·ver·ance
  1. steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving

As I stand on the brink of a new year in much anticipation, the word 'perseverance' comes to mind.

Perseverance is a characteristic that I am praying would develop in my life more & more. Over the years, I have seen a pattern in my life  I find it all too easy to give up trying when thing seem too difficult or unattainable.  Failure goes straight to my heart, I wallow in defeat & sadness for awhile (until the feelings go away), and then the cycle seems to happen all over again.

The truth is, I can never run away from hard things, sadness, failure & failings. They are apart of this life as we know it. Nearly every day of our lives, we are faced with difficult things, opposition and failings. The lazy thing to do is quit, and back away.

This year, I want to learn to be a fighterto not quit when the going gets tough.

This year, I pray that I would have a heart full of courage; that I would scale new heights that I might've not dared reach before.

This year, I pray that my insecurities would vanish in the security of Christ & the Gospel.

What a comfort to know that whatever happens in the coming year (with all of it's unknowns & uncertainties), I can trust Him to finish the good work that He began in me. He promised to complete it!

Such a good reminder in this new year to let insecurities vanish in Christ. I've been thinking of how it's important too to open up and let God pour His grace in. Such a comfort!
