From Where I Stand

From Where I Stand

Can't I just know "the" answer right now?
Can't I just have the next 12 months all planned out on my daily planner?
Can't I just know every single step I'm supposed to take, so there's no risk, no fear?

In the stillness & quietness, the Lord whispered to me,
"Sit still, daughter. Be still & know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

This morning I sipped truffle hot chocolate at Corner Bakery & was directed to those verses in Matthew 6. "Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on... shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? ...for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow..."

So, Lord, You don't want me to worry about a steady paycheck?

Don't even worry about money.

Just stop, just BE, rest, and seek the kingdom of God ... nothing else?

EXACTLY, My daughter.
Be anxious for nothing.

Gabby | Senior Portrait Session

Gabby is graduating from highschool this semester, at a nearby Baptist Academy.

Yesterday afternoon, we met up at Ziggi's Coffee Shop, and then wandered around old town Longmont, Colorado looking for some super fabulous backgrounds and graffiti for me to use to capture Gabby with! The wind got quite gusty at times, but otherwise, the weather was absolutely gorgeous for our portrait session... around 60 degrees! I loved it.

Gabby has the most amazing blue eyes, wouldn't you say?

Because It's Funny | A Comic Side to a Photography

First off, here some reasons to NOT date a photographer.

―On a romantic date, you’ll watch the sun go down & think “Wow this is gorgeous” & they’ll go “mirror lock, tripod & stop down f/8 at 1/125.”
―You’ll never be able to enjoy TV, movies, or magazines because they’ll point out all the visual flaws.
―They like to sit in obscure coffee shop and voyeuristically watch people for great lengths of time.
―You’ll never get to enjoy freshly cooked meals because they’ll spend 15 minutes taking 20 variations of the same dish.
―That photo they randomly took of you yesterday? Good luck getting them to send it to you.
―They spend all their time on the computer.
―They’ll be fussy over the position of a common household object, like a coffee cup.
―They won’t return your calls or text messages, but you can bet they’re still posting pics on Instagram.
―They like trespassing into old abandoned buildings filled with health hazards.
―You can’t go anywhere new without them stopping to take a photo of everything and anything

This is definitely going to be my kid someday while Mommy gets ready to do a client portrait session.
Camera bag = check
Child = check
He WILL have different jammies on, by the way. ....Just in case you're wondering.

On the first of the new year, I decided, rather than make a list of resolutions that I'd never be able to keep, pick ONE word, and let that word be who I want to be or how I want to live by the end of 2012.

My one word for 2012 is
Fearless :||:  bold, courageous, brave, gallant, greathearted, heroic, lionhearted, undauntable, undaunted, valiant

I went to a coffee shop and began to write down verses about not living in fear and not being afraid.
It's incredible how full God's word is about not living in fear!
These are just a few:

"Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not..." Isaiah 53:4

"Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid." —Jesus (Matthew 14:27)

"The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life: of whom shall I be afraid?" Ps. 27:1

"There is no fear in love: but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love." 1 John 4:18

"And He saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?" Matthew 8:26

"I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about." Psalms 3:6

"...I do send thee unto them... be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words... be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks..." Excerpts from Ezekiel 2

We all know that He is The Lamb, but so many times I forget that He is also The Lion.

As a believer in Christ, I carry Jesus Christ IN me.
He lives IN me.

Do I act courageously and fearlessly in this life that He has called me to?
Or do I cower away in fear?

By God's grace, I want to learn to be Fearless in 2012.

Fearlessly proclaim the gospel.
That's God's will for your life.

Katie + Brad | Wedding | Fort Collins, Colorado

"You know, it wasn't until I came to a point where I gave up all of my own plans and ideas for my future and said, 'God, whatever you want...' and then God brought Brad into my life," Katie said.

A year after Brad had gone on a missions trip to Australia through Pensacola Christian College, Katie was going on the same identical trip - of course... just a year later after him. To get the new team ready to go, the previous year's team was invited, to help encourage the new team as they prepared to go.

Brad was talking with a friend, when he noticed Katie across the room. He walked over and introduced himself to her, and asked what her name was. She made him go through the alphabet till he got to the letter 'K' and then she finally told him her name.

Later on, back on campus, Brad pulled his car up up alongside Katie's, rolled down his window, and asked if she would want to attend a special banquet with him. Katie had a friend in the car with her, and felt rather awkward, so she just said, "Well, let me think about it." She wasn't interested in him romantically, but since she didn't want to hurt his feelings, she decided to just go with him to the bangquet as a mere "friend." ;-) Of course, as you guessed... their friendship began.

On New Years Eve, December 31st, 2011, Katie & Brad joined their lives together as One before God at Front Range Baptist Church in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Brad & Katie, I am honored to be your wedding photographer, and it was joy to document your love. Congratulations, my friends! You guys are so fun. :-)

Katie & Brad didn't see each other before the wedding, but with the help of a couple groomsmen, we got Katie & Brad on opposite sides of the doors and they could hold hands for a minute... and then we hid them again. ;-)

The Bride... and her 'Photograph-ist" as she calls me. ;-)

Katie & Brad had a Coffee/Espresso Bar for the reception! Awesome idea, I say.

This was Mika's shot idea! I asked her if she was drinking coffee, and she said, "No!! It's hot chocolate!"

My favorite, favorite part of the wedding day is my private portrait session with the Bride & Groom. Sometimes both of them, or one of them, will be especially shy about being affectionate. I find as soon as they're alone ... well yeah, they're just fine being all mushy and kissy and stuff. ;-) Makes my job so fun. ;-)

I took Brad & Katie to old town Fort Collins.

Have a fabulous honeymoon in New York City, Katie & Brad!
