I Have Chosen You

My family's Christmas Eve night tradition is to watch the movie, "The Nativity Story."

Every time I watch 'The Nativity Story', I am once again reminded of the incredible love of Christ for me. Over and over again in the story of the Nativity, we see the truth that love is a choice, not a feeling.

Of course, I'm not going to go around promoting arranged marriages for everybody (ha!) — but Joseph CHOSE Mary to be his wife, and she in return had to make a CHOICE to love him. In could be easy to imagine them being "madly in love" with each other before they were married — but was that really the case, or did Mary grow to love Joseph as she CHOSE to? Just some thoughts of my own...

Likewise, God CHOSE to send His son to this earth to die for me, for you, because of His great love. Even when I was blind, living in my sin, and did not want Him, He STILL loved me and wanted me. I have a CHOICE whether I want to love & serve Him or not.

Just yesterday, the Lord brought my attention to an incredible verse, and it's been reminded to me over and over again the last twenty-four hours:

"..I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away."
Isaiah 41:9

This Christmas, may you rest in the incredible truth that Christ CHOSE you to be His. Unconditionally.
He loves you.

Merry Christmas!
