Desire

"Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."
Psalms 37:4 + 5

latte

I sometimes struggle with smothering my desires,
somehow subconsciously thinking it's "bad" to desire [I dont why...]
but lately the Lord's been showing me that it's NOT a wrong thing to desire—
especially when desires are from Him!

The Lord gives us the wonderful ability to desire—
but it's up to us if we're going to commit our desires to Him.

Saying Goodbye. Embracing Hope.

Journey to Idaho

I can still remember that chair.

The chair I knelt at, wept at, and cried to the Lord in my utter brokenness.

I wanted to cling to every possible hope
...but I knew it was time to say goodbye.

And I didn't want to.
**************************************
Sometimes God asks us to say goodbye to our dreams.

Dreams that at one time, we were so convinced that they were God's will and plan.

The future seemed mapped out. All I had to do was wait for it to happen.

And then God asked me to say goodbye to it all.

My future fell apart into a million little bits.

My heart was left broken, shattered, fearful, and afraid to trust - ever again.

"Time, my child. In time, the wound shall heal," He said.

I protested, "Nothing could ever heal this wound. I shall never be the same again."

With a Father's heart, and with compassion on His face, He lifted me in His arms, and spoke,

"You are right, my child. You will never be the same again. But dear one,

I make ALL things NEW.

I heal the broken hearted and bind up their wounds. (Psalms 147:3)

I give deliverance to the captives,
I recover sight to the blind,
I heal them that are bruised. (Luke 4:18)

I didn't come for people who 'have it all together'

My very purpose in coming was to bring restoration & healing to those that have been betrayed.

I gives BEAUTY for ashes.

I restore that which has been taken.

Dear one, I am holding your heart together."

**************************************

A year has passed since I finally came to the place where I was ready to let go and say goodbye.

When I came to the place where I was willing to let go and say goodbye, then began the incredible healing that only Jesus brings.

In a vacant room in Dallas, Texas, with my lap literally soaked in tears, I told the Lord I didn't know why. But I did know that I couldn't live — if living meant hurting as much as I was. It was in that moment that I surrendered to the Lord my heart, my hurt, my pain, and my fear. And because I gave it all to HIM,

He has indeed brought restoration to that which I thought could never be wholly restored.

But really, it's not so much about saying goodbye.
(though it's part of that).

It's about embracing hope, knowing that He must — absolutely must — have something more wonderful in store than that which He so lovingly took away.

"He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6

"No good thing will he withold from them that walk uprightly." Psalms 84:11

"...I'll build an altar with the rubble that You've found me in, and every stone will sing of what You can redeem. Heal the wound, but leave a scar - a reminder of how merciful You are..."

The Cheesecake Factory | Downtown Denver

'kay, I'm not going to lie. I have a thing for tasty food. ;)

The weekend before Valentines Day, I joined four other girls from my church for a girls' day out. We met up in downtown Denver at the Cheesecake Factory. Believe it or not, I had never been to Cheesecake Factory prior to this! My teeth just about fell out when I received my bill for my meal and piece of cheesecake, but hey, I guess I was giving myself a Valentines gift. ;)

Here we were driving by the Old Spaghetti Factory in downtown Denver. I forgot just how much I love the lighting and mysterious shadows in the city!

This was Rachel's food. Before she even took a bite, she pushed her plate towards me and said, "Here!" She figured it out (before I ever peeped a word) that I'd want to take a picture. ;) Yussss, right on!

This was my food: Pasta da Vinci. Sooo YUM-MAY! Sautéed Chicken, Mushrooms and Onions in a delicious Madeira Wine sauce, tossed with Penne Pasta and Parmesan.

Culinary Art | Buttered Rosemary Rolls

A couple weeks ago, I was invited over to someone's house for dinner and was asked to bring some dinner rolls. I decided to make some Buttered Rosemary Rolls.

They ended up being served with some yum-may, moist tenderloin, mashed potatoes, green beens, and some other amazing dishes.

I can't lie. The rolls were quite tasty - if I do say so myself. ;) And the smell that wafted through the house as they were baking, was quite wonderful and savory. :)

But the greatest of these is LOVE.

Mission Successful!

Today started with an alarm clock buzzing at 4:30am.

It started with the mission of a surprise... an airport... a flight... a trip.

No, not to surprise my special Valentine (a guy...) to the suspicion of some.

I flew out to Spokane, Washington this morning to surprise my very dear friend, Sarah, for her birthday tomorrow. Great way to spend Valentines Day too, since Valentines Day gets to be more and more depressing as the years go by. ;-)

I love Sarah. She's been there for me through the thick and the thin. She's the kind of friend I can laugh with till I'm doubling over, or wiping tears off my face from laughing so hard. She's the kind of friend who I can ball my eyes out and cry to. She's the kind of friend who reminds me to live out loud. She's the kind of friend who reminds to never fear, love without reservations, and to live every day with passion and without regret.

She's the one who told me and insisted that I'd fall in love and get married first. Contrary, as I suspected, SHE is the first one that has fallen in love, and has been in a relationship with her special guy since the summer... and I couldn't be happier for her! ;-)

So I don't need a "Gilbert Blythe" in my life.
Atleast today.

'Cause I'm going to enjoy a trip to northern Idaho for a visit with my kindred spirit... who's very much like a Diana Berry kind of friend. ;-)

Whether it was spent eating chocolate, admiring roses, going out on a romantic date, or wiping tears away from loneliness & in wonder-ment of when your Knight (or Princess) will finally come-- Happy Valentines Day! You are loved beyond anything you could ever fathom or dream.

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell...

Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints' and angels' song.

PS. This kind of reminds me of us. Hehe

Designer Friday | My Office

You guessed it. This is my dream office to go in my dream house.

The first two images are credit to a fellow photographer, Joy Jensen Phillips. They're actually images of HER office. I like her office so much, it's given me ideas for what I want my office to look similiar to (ie. cranberry red paint, along with white and black accents, etc.) Hope you don't mind, Joy! :-)

I'd love an iMac for my office!

...and some black stools...

and a cute retro lounge chair/couch...
(what are they really called, anyway?)

..some decorative balls...

...a couple tall candle pillars...

...and some fun storage boxes like these...

...and definitely some old, vintage, retro cameras!
